3 hot tips for avoiding tinea this summer

Red flaky rash? Cracked, split or peeling skin? Blistering and itching on the bottom of your foot? You
just may have a case of Tinea, otherwise known as Athlete’s foot. Often enough, these nasty fungal
infections can occur all year round but you may be more susceptible in the summer periods. Fungi
love a moist and warm environment which are often common case after going to the beach or public
pool, and cleaning up in public showers. An infection usually occurs with direct contact to the
barefoot skin.
So here are some useful tips this summer to avoid tinea this summer:

  1. Avoid walking barefoot, especially in public places. Protect your feet with thongs or shower
shoes at the swimming pool or beaches.
  2. Taking care of your feet helps prevention. Wash your feet daily and ensure they are
thoroughly dried, especially between the toes. Do not put on socks until feet are completely
    dry.
  3. Avoid wearing the same socks twice. Wear socks made from natural fibres as they are more
    breathable than synthetic cloth.
If left untreated the infection can spread and can also lead to secondary infection, as the skins
defences are now weakened. Athlete’s foot can be painful and also unsightly. Nowadays, groomed
feet are an important part of our idea of beauty and lifestyle.
If you are suffering from Athlete’s Foot or need advice with an ongoing skin infection effecting your
